More Thank Yous!

I received some more cool awards from some bloggy friends this week.

I received this Kreative Blogger award from my friend Molly @ Book Reviews by Buuklvr81. You'll want to check out her latest book giveaway!

Along with this award, I am supposed to list 7 of my favorite things:

1. My Family
2. My pets
3. Books
4. Jane Austen movies
5. Sunflowers
6. Rocking chairs on porches
7. Museums

I also received this new award from Angel @ Angel Believes. I just recently discovered her blog; she writes about family, being a mom, and about her faith.

With this award, I am to be honest about 10 things in my life:

1. You probably already know this, but I love books! I could browse for days in a bookstore. If I bought all the books I want to read, I think I'd be in the poor house.

2. I'm a nerd and probably always will be.

3. I'm pretty introverted by nature, but once you get to know me you'll probably wish that I stopped talking!

4. If I had the opportunity, I'd probably go back to school and earn my Masters to become a children's librarian. I think it would be wonderful to be surrounded by the things I love all day.

5. I've always wanted to write a novel. I'm hoping maybe some day I will.

6. I'm a Mountain Dew addict. You don't want to see me in the morning without it!

7. This list is making me think too much. And I'm not a morning person. I haven't had enough Mountain Dew flowing through my veins to come up with something humorous and creative. Drat!

I am passing this award onto:

Jen @ The Thrifty Home
Tricia @ Five Little Monkeys
Sarah @ 8 Muddy Boots
Brittanie @ A Book Lover
Vanessa @ A Military Wife's Mahem
Blue Violet @ A Nut in a Nutshell
Annissa Rae @ A Page In My Book

Thank you friends for the awesome awards!

Aloha Friday: They Drive Me Crazy

Here is how Aloha Friday works from Kailani's blog An Island Life:

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

I don't enjoy my morning commute to take my son to school. It takes me between 30-45 minutes to get there and the same amount of time to get back. And every morning I get annoyed by some driver who thinks that they are inside a video game. I get cut off, nearly run into, and have to hit my breaks more often than I would like. The traffic on the highways I have to take to get there really stinks!

Oh, and don't get me started about the people who don't know what a turn signal is or what a safe driving distance between you and the car in front of you is for.....

My Question For This Week Is: What drives you crazy?

Time Out For Theta Mom Thursday

Theta Mom Thursday is all about YOU! According to Heather at Theta Mom "the goal is to grab one hour of time within one week to do whatever you want…without the kids. It’s such an amazing proposition, I know! On Thursdays, post how you spent your “time out”.

PSSSST!

I'm going to tell you a little secret!

SHHHHHH!

Come Closer....

I ate my dinner backwards this week! I took a nice bowl of vanilla ice cream and drizzled Hershey's chocolate syrup all over it. And I indulged in it's ooey gooey goodness!

Why did I eat ice cream for dinner? Well, you see, my hubby has been working late and it's been difficult to time dinner. He texted me that he wasn't coming home until nearly 7:30.

My stomach was growling. I was alone (my son was at his dad's)...

So I decided, why wait? It's always a good time for ice cream!

That's how I spent my time out. Indulging. Heavenly!

Have you taken time out for you this week? Head over to Heather's blog to link up and find out what other Theta moms have been doing. (to find out more about what a Theta mom is click here)

Review of Texas Heat by Debra White Smith

About the Author(from the publisher):

Debra White Smith is a seasoned Christian author, speaker, and media personality who has been regularly publishing books for a decade. She has written over fifty books with over one million books in print. Along with Debra's being voted a fiction-reader favorite several times, her book Romancing Your Husband was a finalist in the 2003 Gold Medallion Awards. And her Austen series novel First Impressions was a finalist in the 2005 Retailers Choice Awards.

Visit Debra's web site to find more great titles. She also has a page at Harper Collins.

My Review:

Texas Heat is the first in the series Lone Star Intrigue. The story opens with single mother Charli being arrested by her former boyfriend Jack Mansfield on embezzlement charges. Jack is the police chief of Bullard, Texas and has no choice but to carry out the arrest warrant, even though he doesn't believe that Charli is guilty.

Because he still has feelings for her, Jack decides to prove that Charli is innocent by hiring his brother Sonny who is a private-eye. Together they try to find out who has framed Charli. Along the way, Jack finds that this is a harder job than he thinks. Someone is trying to get rid of Charli.

I love Debra White Smith's easy writing style. She draws you into the characters and her stories are always full of great plot lines. I really felt for Charli since she was a single mom who had been abandoned by her husband and left to raise a five year old daughter. She regretted being swept off her feet by someone that she honestly didn't know very well. The love that she and Jack still carried over the years was very strong and I found myself wanting to prod them and get them together. This was a wonderful mystery full of twists and turns! You will not want to put this book down.

You can purchase a copy of this book at Harper Collins.

Special thanks to Debra White Smith for providing me with an autographed copy to review.

Friend Makin' Monday

A lot of folks are talking about what they did for Halloween. I was kinda bummed out, as I usually am when I don't have my son for a special day. He was at his dad's this year. So I didn't see him in his costume or take him out around the neighborhood. I also didn't get to snag any of his treats (which may have been a good thing for my hips!)

But if I had to pick my favorite candy, I would choose Mr. Goodbar. I don't know what it is about the combination of milk chocolate and salty peanuts, but I love it!

What is your favorite Halloween (or fall) candy?

Today's Friend Makin' Monday is brought to you by Amber. Visit her blog and find out what other friends are sharing.
